This, my friends, is what is known as a rant. I prefer not to waste my blog space on ranting. But, I have to make an exception in light of what happened to me and my daughter yesterday at Los Angeles International Airport. We had just gotten off a flight from Denver on United Airlines and we were in search of Gate 72. We followed the signs and the next thing I know I’m two feet over the red security “no re-entry” line and I stop b/c the sign above looks like it continues on to the gates. I am clearly very confused and I ask the guard which way to gate 72. Well, chuckles sent me back through the security checkpoint instead of letting me walk back over the red line to make a quick left turn to the gates. Thanks, thanks a million. Once my daughter and I came back around, I said “you know, I was lost.” You could have given me the benefit of the doubt and turned me toward the walkway two feet away. This was the brilliant response I got. “I could lose my job”. Thanks for making a 5-foot-tall woman and her 6-year-old daughter walk back through security, which was FARTHER away than the gate turn and we ended up losing our nice bottle of water.

Transportation Security Administration, you need to seriously get your act together.
